PREVENT THIS STORY FROM HAPPENING TO YOU OR OTHERS!!!!
This story is our story, but it could very well be your story! My wife had always had the normal gynecological tests and physicals each year. She was very active and exercised regularly. She made great efforts to eat correctly. She had no history of cancer in her family. She had none of the numerous risk factors that are given for people who normally get ovarian cancer. She did have IBS(irritable bowel syndrome). In fact , she thought the pain she was having in her abdomen was from a flare-up in the IBS.
It seems that many times ovarian cancer gives symptoms very similar to IBS. Some of the common symptoms are bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, an urgent or frequent need to urinate, and pain in the lower back. Doctors usually rush to diagnose these more common problems rather than suspecting Ovarian Cancer.
You should demand a pelvic/rectal exam, an ultra sound, and a CA-125 blood test. It may turn out to be one of the common problems, but you may just save your life by being proactive!!! Her gastrointestinal doctor finally suggested a CAT scan at that time because of the pain she was having. The CAT scan showed a large tumor in the pelvic area. This turned out to be Ovarian Cancer in Stage IIIC. This is an advanced stage. Normally, a person with ovarian cancer has no symtoms of pain until it reaches the later stages and many times has metastisized. Hers had gotten into the lymph nodes. THERE ARE NO EARLY DETECTION TESTS FOR OVARIAN CANCER!!!
I saw a vibrant, healthy woman, waste away due to the Ovarian Cancer she had. She had chemo treatments twice a week, which are devastating in themselves, with little or no progress against the cancer, mainly due to the advanced stage it was in. With all the work going on with breast cancer and others, there seems to be no real major effort to come up with an early detection for ovarian type cancers. The only way to improve the success rate for survival of ovarian cancer is to detect it early. THERE ARE NO TESTS OR METHODS TO DO THAT AT THIS TIME!!! If there had been, my wife would have had them just like the other tests she did regularly each year. If there had been , she would have most likely been here now and there would have been no need for me to create this website.
My wife passed away after a very long courageous battle against this disease. Ovarian Cancer is a vicious disease that is very, very aggressive. I have developed this website to try and help someone else not have the same story to tell. I have developed this site for my granddaughters, daughter-in-laws, and other women who are possibly walking around with a disease that is somewhat SILENT....HIDDEN.....AND DEADLY due to a lack of any type of early detection!! HOWEVER, IT DOES WHISPER ! ! !
We have established an Ovarian Cancer Research Fund to help find some method of early detection. This research fund is set up at the leading institution in the U.S. for cancer research, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center . All donations go directly to them. There is no middle man! PLEASE DONATE NOW!!! MY WIFE AND I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD HAPPEN TO US, BUT IT DID!!! IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES!! PLEASE HELP YOURSELF AND OTHERS NOW!
